Tai Chi by Janet Swigler
Taiji (tai chi) is a moving meditation that encompasses and develops the physical, mental, and spiritual elements of our lives by synchronizing slow, continuous movements with our breath. Some of the benefits to the practitioner are reduction of stress, improvement in balance, and a low-impact  aerobic work-out. Janet Swigler has been studying taiji for 16 years.

Janet Swigler's interest in Tai Ji led her to China and Tibet.
She took part in this discipline in her trip to China and Tibet. "We got up early each morning and headed for the park, and we would find many others there, going through the exercises. Not many young people, they say it's for the old folks. It's a mental and physical and spiritual discipline, which can benefit everyone." Click here for more info about Janet.

Mobility Scooter
At the March support meeting Charles Mack, a member of our group, demonstrated his new scooter. What is amazing about this scooter is that it comes apart easily and fits into a normal car trunk! Several members of our group have asked for information about where Charles had purchased the scooter.

Charles says:   “This is the one I went with but there is a wide selection.  Just Goggle search "Trek 4 Mobility Scooter" and a number of dealers will pop up.  This one was the best for the money I thought and the shipping was free and fast. My enthusiasm for the 'vehicle' is purely personal.  I still enjoy it and it has made getting around far easier than it was.  Guardian Trek 4-Wheel Travel Scooter - Model No. TREK4

Wanna Tango - Tango for Therapy for Parkinson's Patients by Elizabeth Jones
Tango For Therapy uses the Argentine Tango as the basis to work on balance, gait, mental focus, concentration, stretching, thinking, and doing. Based on studies, research, medical journals, clinical trials, personal experience, and observation, the moves and steps of Argentine Tango have shown to help counteract the debilitating symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

Why tango dance lessons? Research studies have suggested that by taking tango dance lessons, Parkinson patients will gain improvements in balance and motor coordination, and will be at less risk of falling.
